Self-enployed
Independent software architect & developer
I build tools that help people create software, alongside independent products, games and systems that connect code with hardware. My current work brings together automated programming, LLMs and hands-on systems engineering.
- Automated programming and LLMs: developing workflows and tools for coding agents, from coordinating work to inspecting results. Herdr Prism makes agent activity visible through session trees, process and resource monitoring, messages, tasks and Git changes across Codex, Claude Code and Pi.
- Kismik — ongoing development of a local-first business and project platform, with a Rust core, web and desktop interfaces, durable workflows, extensible tools and optional local or remote language models.
- FricOS — ongoing research and development of a message-based micro operating system in Rust, together with the Frico language, compiler and virtual machine. Exploring service isolation, lightweight processes and portable, inspectable runtimes.
- Hardware and interactive systems: Gyrus 2040 brings arcade games to a round RP2040 touchscreen with touch and tilt controls, an optimized display driver and a desktop simulator. VIOS explores a live Forth workstation on Agon Light 2; LittleTalk64 brings a Smalltalk VM, compiler and desktop to the Commodore 64 and 128.
- Independent games: developing A Day With a Tentacle for iPhone, iPad and Mac, building on the game engines, level editors and live debugging tools created for Be2. Further experiments include 3D games for Playdate in Lua.
- Open-source foundations: Rust NIFs for Excel manipulation and Tantivy full-text search in Elixir, plus a preemptive Forth VM on the BEAM. Language design, runtime tooling and reusable libraries remain a common thread across my work.
