VIOS

A live Forth workstation for Agon Light 2. A bare-metal eZ80 system and an ESP32 windowed desktop let you write, inspect and change software while it is running.

Inspired by Smalltalk environments, the Browser, Workspace, Inspector and Manager are live tools written in Forth. Edit a word, recompile its module, test it and activate it without stopping the system. The desktop can switch between Smalltalk and Turbo Vision styles.

The eZ80 runs the Forth system, tasks, devices and SD-card storage; the ESP32 handles windows, graphics, keyboard input and sound. A host harness exposes the live board through MCP tools and JSON-RPC for development with a person or an AI assistant.

Find the complete manual, hardware requirements, installation instructions and downloads on the project website below. The animation shows live editing in the Browser and evaluating the result in the Workspace, rendered by the system’s actual display-server code.
